Fun with Crowdfunding: Chaudiere Books

Okay guys, often we find crowdfunding pages from the Great Wheresoever— sometimes they’re people we know, sometimes they’re people we don’t know, sometimes they’re projects we wish we had thought of.

But this week’s edition of Fun with Crowdfunding is an opportunity for us to show love to some of the people who do such important work to fuel the literary scene in Ottawa— and all over Canada. rob mclennan, already a legendary poet in his own right, started Chaudiere Books with Jennifer Mulligan in 2006 and has since published some remarkable and challenging poetry titles— from the percussive, pixelated mating dances of Marcus McCann’s Soft Where to the lower-case echo chambers of Pearl Pirie’s been shed bore. In 2013, mclennan and Christine McNair relaunched Chaudiere and are planning to release books from Amanda Earl and Roland Prevost. But in the midst of a difficult and surely exciting rebuilding year, Chaudiere needs your support!

There aren’t many presses in Canada that focus on poetry so heavily and with such nuance, and it’s hard to understate the importance of keeping projects like this afloat. Please check out their IndieGogo site for their rebuilding year and cash in on those awesome perks— the “fetish object” might have sold out, but there are still plenty of awesome gifts you’ll get in exchange for supporting small press poetry.
