News, reviews, recipes and features are woven together in this easy to read publication devoted to a meat-less life. Glossy and attractively laid out, there is a real effort to reach the mainstream, omnivorous society. I don’t like broccoli, so the numerous recipes for broccoli weren’t of interest to me. However, there was a good recipe for homemade miso soup and even tasty meatless alternatives to things like chicken nuggets. Winning essays by an elementary, a secondary school and a college age student were good pieces. The same people that produce The Vegetarian Journal also publish a number of short info packages, including a good one on ethical employment Living Your Ethics — Career Choices. (BB)
