Unheard of…

I didn’t want to like this little CD of spoken word poetry read aloud. For some reason, I put off listening to it for a month or two. When I finally did pop it in the CD player, it was a real treat. There are at least fifteen different artists reading their work on this baby – accompanied by music and sound collage. There’s Ian Ferrier… Vince and Victoria of the great little Montreal zine, Perfect Waste of Time… Corrado Paina. And so much more. Jennifer Patterson’s work blows me away. She has the perfect poetry voice, the one all the poets up on stage have. Her poetry is both sexy and chilling. In Crush, she croons: “Do small bones hurt less when they break?” Pretty much everything I listen to is good. Is this the future of zine-land? Perhaps. This bizarre little CD is good, damn good.
