This is grad student humor – or, more specifically (since academic intellectual life is so woefully fragmented and balkanized) archaeology department humor. Classicists might get a chuckle. Actually, who knows what sorts of folks might enjoy comix where the humor centers around paltry research grants, socializing during research trips, other researchers stealing data and artifacts, snobby elitist ambitious rockstar grad students and the research assistants they piss on, and so forth.
