Underground Noise

“With,” as Matthew Jaques writes in a CD review, “the harsh heavy sound of traditional blackness” Underground Noise moves quickly and enthusiasticly through various genres of metal including death metal, goth, industrial and others. Although I am not a fan of this kind of tunage, I enjoy the hyperbolic pomp with which the writers of this fanzine go about presenting their new discoveries and old faves. Divine Sin “emeges out of the deepest northern Swedish wood.” Pan- Thy-Monium employs “the sonic attack of the guitars” and “gravely evil vocals.” I.M. Saracastic fills one page with the I Hate Column and provides us with a an analysis titled “Where is Metal at Today.” Seems there are metal stars who only think about money (Metallica) and metal stars who think about money, but also think about their fans (Ozzy). Like the music these writers love, the information laden Underground Noise lacks subtlety but more than makes up for it with bombast.
