The move from high school to university is a big step in life, one that is full of doubts, fears and surprises. I recognized a lot of old fears and discoveries as I read through Melissa’s rants and diary entries. I didn’t know much about zines when I was her age so I kept all those thoughts to myself. It’s probably a good thing that she let hers out. At the same time, I knew that writing was a good excuse to start up correspondences with such superstars as Julie Doiron and an interview is an excellent way to meet a favourite band (like Mel does with Ida).
