TransForum is truly an odd duck. It was hatched by something called The Groovy Community, an entity whose origins may be made clearer if the next issue of TransForum is stuffed with tributes to Jerry Garcia. It has a BBS of its own. TransForum says it is a forum for debate, hoping to generate new ideas, political energies, critiques, etc. Few of these have yet been seen in its pages, but it is getting better with each issue, or at least more wildly mixed-up, which would seem to be the goal. Pick of the ish: reprinted from the BBS, a grunge version of O Canada, to the tune of Smells Like Teen Spirit : We had Free Trade, EQUAL ACCESS! But it wouldn t, PAY OUR TAXES! First Quebec went, THEN THE PRAIRIES! Then B.C. by, JANUARY!… So we lost our, CREDIT RATING! It s as low as, MIDGETS MATING! (Insert unintelligible mumbling here.)
