Ah, fantasy/science fiction fandom. To some, a cesspool of nerds and acne; to others, a dim, slightly embarrassing memory; and, to the likes of Scott Patri, a way of life. Well, maybe that s not fair, but Scott s zine does bear all the jargon (locs, con, fen, fannish), role-playing references and Piers Anthony hugging that would mark the truly over-immersed. He has a pleasant writing style and sometimes veers in the direction of a personal-zine writer the front section, featuring The musings of a Head Honcho, is warm and readable. The cartoons, by various friends, are inconsistent but often amusing. The best is in the front section again: two amorphous but sinister blobs immersed in a pool, uttering the immortal exchange, Q.: What makes you the head honcho? , A.: I shit in my hat.
