The Shadow Production

It’s impossible not to love this unbelievably unpretentious little volume of poems. Listen to this: “As I sat on my bed and listened to the crickets singing their/lullabies, and the waves splashing on the shore, I realized that/listening is the most important thing in life for one to do./I am listening to the lapping of the waves and the silence of the/darkness of the night./There are no street lights, just the lights from the light house/and the cottages./The train clatters by and the birds sing their songs from the trees./Here I am listening to the butterflies and even the bugs that land/on my windowpane./The flies buzz round my head in a way that I want to kill them.” If that doesn’t move you, you better not buy this book.
