The Results Of The Autopsy: 13 Little Love Stories

Stu kills me. Seriously. The cover of this little zine is all cheesed up and photocopied on hot pink paper. It’s not a beaut, but it did succeed in gaining my attention and my 3 bucks at the Small Press Book Fair in June. Stuart really does kill me – these stories are nicely crafted like jokes and oozing juice, and have nothing whatsoever to do with love, as far as I can tell. Okay, maybe metaphorically they do, but it’s a really long stretch. My favourite little ‘love’ story was the first psychotic episode, entitled Quicksand: “I’ve got this thing about quicksand. In fact, quicksand and poison darts. You think you’re the first to have noticed it? Everyone knows about it. The whole world is talking about it…” I also enjoyed Stuart’s story called The Music, which is about being haunted by a tune that rushes into your head in the most unlikely situation – and just won’t leave. Don’t stop making your little books, Stuart, please don’t stop! (EPW)
