The Northern Arm – The Winter Music Project

There’s a fine line between the inspired and the insane; a subtle twist is all it takes to make the mundane transcendent. The music on this mysterious CD might otherwise be unremarkable acoustic strumming were it not for the fact that all the recordings took place outdoors in minus zero weather on an eight track running off a Toyota’s cigarette lighter. Picturing these fellas huddled around a mic in the shadow of Hamilton’s steel factories (among other equally exotic locales) on a December night adds an atmosphere to the proceedings that you can’t hear, you can only imagine.
