The Mummydust Hourglass

This is a neat little comic. The comic (all 70 pages of it) is of five people who interact very little with each other but are somehow connected by destiny in space-time. One unnamed character appears to be the “man on the moon,” another is a boy named Jim with a skull for a head who is looking for a girl named Jenny who was left in the rain, there is also a fellow dressed in a butler outfit playing chess by himself, and finally a kid who grumbles angrily about everything. Despite having all these characters, the story moves very slowly due to the aforementioned lack of interaction. I think the creator’s theme was loneliness and solitude, but at times the story was too varied and appeared to try too hard to reach some sort of profundity. However, the zine itself is put together extremely well and the artist does have some decent drawing talent. (Adam Vaughn)
