The Michael Ellis Chronicles

Well any zine with a slight Monty Python obsession can’t be awful. This hardly hilarious chronicle of nothing in particular does have its fine moments although in the final analysis it is notable more for what it doesn’t have than what it does. That is, no movie reviews, no music reviews, no tv show reviews, and, thankfully, no zine reviews. In fact, with the exception of a couple of book reviews — Tina Yothers Guide For Girls — this is a no review zine. While that in theory is a good thing, it does leave a lot of errant space for, well, the flotsam and jetsam of the zine world. Quotes, weird ads, pictures, a strange sort of commentary on working at Fairweather (some kind of bargain clothing place I think). Best moment: a picture of someone else’s family with the caption: “I found this lying on the road. I’m terribly sorry if this is YOUR family.”
