The J of S is a serious zine! Even the cover is seriously beautiful – and apparently it only cost 26 cents. Inside, the pages are just packed with all kinds of interesting stuff. I found the interview with John K. Samson (of the Winnipeg band The Weakerthans, and co-founder of the small publishing house called Arbeiter Ring) particularly inspiring. The step-by-step guide to making your own firecrackers and ketchup bombs made me want to run out and try them! There’s also tons more stuff: interviews, fiction, photographs and personal rants by the mysteriously unmentioned “aspiring computer nerds” who put together the impressive first issue of this biannual zine.
