The Dead Herring is a handsome little music zine covering the hard-assed worlds of punk and metal. Typical in form, it features interviews, record reviews and thoughts du jour. What’s not so typical is the keen, intuitive writing skill. It’s silly in all the right places, and provides sharp, intelligent questions and observations. It’s good to see an earnest music zine with a sense of humour. Main attractions this issue are The Weakerthans, Propagandhi and Rodrigo Alfaro. (DF)
