The Amazing Cynical Man

Feazell draws all the characters as stick people, even though it’s obvious he’s a sophisticated comic artist. His line is quirky, his sense of humour is delectably silly, and it’s all informed by a completely paralyzed social conscience. We join in the adventures of several characters, not just Cynical Man’s, and meet the amazing Gnosis ad Infinitum, who will go down in history as the “only [Roman] emperor to get assassinated on his first day in office,” there’s also the “idiot savant” Stupid Boy who does stupid things that are sometimes actually smart. Wow. But Cynical Man himself does the idiot savant thing best when he joins a right-wing militia group, out of pure lust for free donuts, and then ha ha the joke’s on him, but I won’t tell you how. Just thinking about it gives me a buzz. (Donato Mancini)
