You gotta love a comic that promises to “sodomize your eyes” and has a cover featuring a Klu Klux Klan guy posing with his arm around Hitler. Written on the Klan guy’s robe is the saying “I’m with stupid.” I approached with trepidation, expecting idiocy, but what I found was actually quite haunting, even frightening. Perfecto is more a social critic than a story teller. He gives us the travails of Norman, who “seduced by conformity…never became a person…” Norman, in fact, joins the legions of NAZI-like happy-face people who goose-step through the streets, looking for differences they can eradicate. Clockwork Orange meets R. Crumb in these pages, at once monstrous and silly. (Hal Niedzviecki)
