Streeteaters

If you are not acquainted with Streeteaters, it’s a non-profit zine out of Montreal. They publish writers of fiction, poetry, and prose, as well as photographs and comics of all kinds. Their latest issue is a “best of” compilation of their favourite stuff. This is my first glimpse of Streeteaters, and I generally liked what I saw. Mark Unterberger’s illustrations are great and so is Amy Leaman’s “Serial” section of the zine. All of the work is generally free of cheese and stupidity. I like the fact that Streeteaters recognizes itself as a zine supported and built with the help of the community. I think it’s only available in Montreal, but I did read that a website was going to be up and running soon. This “best of” issue is good for people who want to get acquainted with what the zine has been doing during the first year of publication. Or, if you’re already acquainted with it, this issue is sure to bring back memories. (Audrey Gagnon)
