Vancouver’s lovers of trashy B-movies focus on blaxploitation films of the seventies with very readable reviews of a bunch of lesser known (at least to me) entries in the genre. There’s also some zine reviews, some more reviews of bad films and a review of a concert by psychobilly band Demented Are Go. Sockamagee! is not intellectually deep by any stretch of the imagination. It could benefit from actually poking about beneath the surface of this cultural ephemera a bit, and providing just a smidgen of (dare I say it?) analysis. Nonetheless, the enthusiasm shown here is infectious. (KR)
