Skull Session is just 6 slim pages, but it’s one of the most packed, informative and opinionated zines in Canada. The focus is heavy metal record reviews, and much as I’m mostly ignorant and could care less about the genre, the reviews are written so strongly that I actually found myself anxious to hear the records while I was reading about them. There’s an email interview with the Spanish hardcore band Versus that is so clearly evidence of higher intelligence from both parties, that I’m compelled to throw it in the face of any aspiring music zinester and tell ’em this is the shit. There ‘s more in a couple pages here than MEAT magazine ever managed in a lifetime. (DF)
