Simplified Complexity

A funny, pouty and breathless peek into the daily trials of 19-year-old piercing fanatic and Cure fan Jenny Yuen, Simplified Complexity is an honest, unpretentious publishing effort. There is little posturing (although a little posing) in this zine. Yuen writes about whatever she feels like writing about, and it’s usually witty and funny enough to be interesting. Typical topics: Why Cell phones suck, Boxing Day Shopping Hell, Why the Simpsons Kicks Ass, getting a root canal and the overall suckiness of life in Newmarket. Yuen’s obsessions with life’s details is cute and at least it conveys something about another human being. If more people published their zines with Yuen’s desire to entertain and her attempts to honestly attempt to communicate something about her life, the zine world would be a lot more interesting and readable at the same time.
