Quarry

This is a nicely put together lit mag with a lot to recommend it. The featured author is Matthew Firth. I like the way they do the featured author in Quarry: there’s no bullshit interview, just a couple of long stories so we can decide for ourselves. In this case, I was definitely happy with 21 Days, gritty tale of a schizophrenic neighbour doing everything he can to avoid eviction. There was other good stuff in here too, like Elaine Johnston’s account of working at a fish factory in the suburbs of Vancouver. A good mag to read for conservative but well put together new writing.
