Psychic Space

Psychic Space, dubbed “Canada’s Art Magazine” by its humour-loving creators, is an alternate reality. Cartoonists Mark and Pete have collaborated to create a whirlwind of images that explode, overlap and escape from the boundaries of a small book of cartoon strips. Right from page one, it is very difficult to distinguish between the two artists’ styles – they shift in and out of each other in the same way that the animated characters shift sexes. Women with block heads chat with ghosts, little guys with big hairdos spout truisms like “love hurts”, and one-eyed monsters say “There you go again you. Wrecking a good thing with that Jesus thing. Jesus.” This is a zine that maps our psychic landscape, our dreams and all the things we do not say out loud. (EPW)
