Precious Fathers

Is post-rock really over a decade old? When was that first Tortoise album? And what does that make me? A post-dinosaur? Irrelevant? Probably. What does it make the Precious Fathers? They are now players in an established tradition (right down to their trumpet) rather than radical innovators. Which is simply to say there’s a historical context for their compelling instrumentals. To be honest, I remain a sucker for interlocking guitar arpeggios and martial, motorrik rhythms. Call me old fashioned. (Terence Dick)
