Magazines like Pound just don’t come along very often. Intelligent, witty, relevant and good-looking, Pound is a labor of love from a team that loves hip-hop. If you’re looking for those Mos Def and Dead Prez interviews that other shit magazines can’t seem to squeeze in, you need Pound. Publisher Rodrigo Bascunan provides a balance between interviews, graffiti art, humour, music and politics. Pound for Pound, where fictional MC battles between Pikachu and Bill Gates take place is one of my favourite features. They do the job right. Look for serious expansion in coming years.
