No Back Yard

If “zine” were in the dictionary there would be a picture of No Back Yard next to the definition. Intimate, typewritten words and fuzzy images cut and pasted and photocopied make an authentically classic zine. Because of the title, the general crudeness of the zine’s design and writing, and the drawing of two kids on the cover, I expected the authors to be young, not even teenage. Imagine two children making zines in their parents’ apartment, because there’s no place to play outside. So charming, but also sad. In reality I think Isla and Yuula are much older. (Evan Dickson)
