There’s a story about a fly who wants to join a gang, but get’s killed in the initiation which involves riding a car windshield. There’s one of those things where the world has recently ended and we get to watch a post-holocaust survivor wandering through the wreckage of civilization, contemplating the Prophecy of the Three Pyramids. “The Day of the Dead Squirrels” is an ode mourning all squirrels who’ve been hit by cars. We get thoughts pounding in heads, steel chills wrapping themselves around heads, thoughts boring into skulls, heads vibrating, shrieking crescendos stabbing needles into brains, and brains getting hardwired to waves of helplessness. And R. Logan tells us: “The reason we fail in life is because somone up there does hate us.”
