Mote

Another solid effort from this Edmonton-based music zine with some of the broadest coverage going. I spooged all over this last time ’round, so maybe a few criticisms this time, o-kay.? Let’s see, the handwritten interview with The Mants. Refused to read it. Either improve the penmanship, or type the bloody thing. Oh, and that Primal Scream review written by Nicole Bomme. Seriously misinformed and useless. Minor quibbles aside, Mote’s going from strength-to-strength. Interviews with Peaches, Choke, artist Ross Bradley, Lydia Lunch, Plumtree, Geoff Berner, and a special on Toronto. With the high circulation, wide distribution and pile of letters from across the country, this young zine is a high gainer and will hopefully be kicking long-in-the-tooth embarrassments like Chart magazine to the curb in no time.
