Modern Industry

This is a nice comics anthology. The first comic, Closing Time, is a hilarious costumed fast food joint hold-up strip that ends unexpectedly. Fake Out is a funny look on how picking up the nice looking girl/boy is not always what’s best when looking for love. One of the two K Chronicles is about getting a sponsor to afford having a child, and the consequences throughout that person’s life. The few other attempts at humour fall flat. There also are some contemplative comics: Fuzzy Bunny Goes to Hell is bit of a surreal engravings collage that is interesting to look at, but kinda left me on my appetite. A Poem is a wordless comic that stood out among the rest. Visually, A Poem and Fuzzy Bunny stand out. The other comics are drawn in various classical comics styles, most of them well done but not particularly impressive. The best comics in there make the zine worth buying, and the ones that didn’t move me weren’t really bad either. (FA)
