Mindjack

From the fringe of the country, New Brunswick, comes an e-zine looking for the fringes of technology and culture. They need to look a bit harder. What you get from Mindjack is mostly reviews. Reviews of video games, reviews of books, reviews of the Microsoft anti-trust trial. There are also editorials, personal essays and interviews with tech-type micro-celebs like R.U. Sirius. Sometimes published twice a month, sometimes once a month, Mindjack is quite well-written and well-designed, but the subject matter is pretty damn mainstream. Not withstanding the obvious good taste demonstrated by their favourable comments about Concrete Forest, an in-depth review of Tekken 3 can hardly be called a journey to the fringes of technology and culture. But it’s good reading and comes out with new stuff fairly often, which scores big bonus points. (DW)
