Milan’s Zine

‘zine. no known publisher. main creator: Milan. Free + postage. 1755 Herbert Street, Tecumseh, ON, N8N 4G3

Milan’s layout is soothing, lots of space, small snippets of text on each page, some typed, some handwritten clearly. There is the occasional illustration as well, line drawn, simple and pleasing. Three main things make up this ‘zine really; quotations, ‘zine reviews, and personal comment/essay mostly about being happy and being oneself. But Milan also includes song lyrics he likes, a brief interview with the band Heroine, and a personal note from an anonymous friend. There are a ton of quotes from Tom Mertins, who seems to be something of a guru for Milan; he says things like: “To change one aspect of yourself you must also alter many others.” Themes that run through this ‘zine could be dubbed Zen-ish, as well as anti-drug, anti-capitalist and pro-vegan. It’s a very personal and honest ‘zine.
