Maggot Zine

The best thing about this zine is that it provides lots of insight into the Fredericton punk scene. That could also be the worst thing about this zine, but it depends. Actually, the punk stuff – interviews with bands 46 Short, and the Turbo AC’s, rants on the evils of pop punk, and show reviews, didn’t end up being as interesting as, say, Candace’s favourite places to hang out in Fredericton including a roof top, various bridges and a skate park. The exception to that are the “What Is Punk?” mini interviews. No consensus emerges, but that may very well be the beauty of punk. The zine starts off with a pretty interesting description of how an anarchist society might function. All in all, a very worthy read. (Hal Niedzviecki)
