Lonesome Fugue

Gordon B. Isnor (of Left Hip! fame) has produced a small zine of poetry he aptly titles Lonesome Fugue. What Gord lacks in grand vision, he makes up for in his capacity to appreciate the visceral nostalgia that stems from the very notion of poetry: “Crying and bullfrogs and the occasional car. Love was religion back in my college years. Hopeful, reliable, and always near the ocean.” In his longing to break through the artifice of human senses, he recasts and recreates, makes sense of what doesn’t make sense. Isnor sounds his own solitary note. (HN)
