Toronto’s very own Rina Piccolo sends up the church in this cute, vindictive, satiric but somehow respectful collection of one panel cartoons. Piccolo’s second book, remarkably, doesn’t seem limited by the subject matter. Her one joke panels are as much about human nature and Western society as they are about the sometimes painful predilections that occupy the dying days of the Catholic religion. A few of these cartoons are clearly trying too hard to work the dogma of the church into them, but for the most part, these are funny, genuine works from a talented cartoonist with an eye for the ludicrous.
