Lots of beautiful and icy, beautiful and fiery, beautiful and just plain beautiful images, all with a slightly unreal feeling about them — everything so clean and smooth, it’s hard at times to grasp onto anything: Let me sleep for ten thousand years/under the Bodhi tree, let me come to you/ again as the Sky Dancer./Listen! Find that one note, that pure/sound and tune your body to it.” These poems are “that pure sound,” and as I read I find myself wanting to experience a little dissonance. Dissonance that arrives, briefly, here and there throughout the magazine. Despite what seems to be an attempt to make everything in this magazine “perfect,” there are some wonderful moments, moments where something harsher, more real, jumps out to create a different, fulfilling kind of beauty:
