Issue Six

Is this a study of the sex trade industry, an homage to the queens of fashion or a personal life story? Probably all three. Issue Six starts with a disturbingly fascinating cover: sexy woman with stars for eyes, dressed in a tight loungy dress, against a set of evil, angry eyes. That’s how this self-categorized “freakzine” begins. It leaves us with the sadly personal words “of course we never meant to hurt each other” drooping off the back cover. Kevin’s work is at times sad, and at times offensive, but always fashionably compelling. One page surprises us with its sincerity, “Brandy finally found love with a younger man. Three weeks after me.” Another page startles us with the image of an eyeless, half-naked woman and a description of her: “Nothing was too much for Noreen. She sold her body to a man an hour after making it for kicks with a sex-crazed lesbian.” Meanwhile, there’s another woman sitting on a nearby bed who asking Noreen: “Wanna do a few lines?” You’re missing out if you don’t send the measly one buck Kevin’s asking for this creation.
