Insomnia/Don’t Touch That

Two new micro books by Joe Ollman, both fantastic little reads. Insomnia is the simple, funny story of what happens when some guy can’t sleep. He wants to go look in at his kids, but he doesn’t because they’re too old now and if they saw him standing over them, they’d probably think he’d snapped and was going to kill them. Instead he tries to take a crap and reads an old kids’ book called Glueford The Big Red Dog. Don’t Touch That: There’s No Telling Where It’s Been is a “found object alphabet” book. It runs through stuff like Hangar and Popsicle Stick and Utensil Pack. Each listing comes with a great little illustration and a sad musing. “Nickel: The middle- child of the sidewalk coins, the nickel is often overlooked. It brings no luck as its lesser brother the penny is said to, and neither has it the vulgar monetary value of a coin of higher mintage to induce the average pedestrian to pick it up.” (HN)
