Hey alright it’s great to find out that things are still lively in what used to be Canada’s premiere manufacturer of good Canadian writing in the English language. By far the best feature of this messy but lively newspaper is the extensive listings covering live readings in Montreal as well as radio and television literary happenings. After that, I was impressed with their book reviews (although there could be a lot more of them) and glad to see that in Montreal — the comic mecca of North America — comics are given the same status books.(And writer Gavin McInnes is obviously qualified to keep us up-to-date on Montreal comic happenings.) Okay I skipped the long dialogue “Writing in the Feminine in 1995”, but maybe I’ll come back to it later. Busy people will appreciate a serious newspaper that gets right at the heart of the happenings of this important literary capital.

newspaper / May, 12 pages / publisher: Stephanie Blainshay / main creators: Stephanie Blainshay, Corey Frost, Pat Salah, Colin Christie (editors) / free around Montreal with a suggested $1 donation
