Independence News

The latest issue of Saskatoon’s little left-wing newspaper has the same problems as the previous issues. Their heart is definitely in the right place, but the articles, for the most part, are short on facts and long on propaganda. The fact that it’s propaganda for a good cause doesn’t make it any more readable. Unless there are actual new facts to present, I don’t need to read anything more about Canadian unity, Conrad Black, the joys of Cuba or world profiteers. The one article that interested me was a short one on the last page about the takeover of Saskatchewan agricultural companies by a giant U.S. agribusiness. Independence News should consider doing more of this kind of thing – focusing on factual stories about events in their own backyard. (KR)
