I’m Johnny and I Don’t Give a Fuck

How do you make a house a home? Try knocking out some walls with a ball-peen hammer, putting a punk rock rehearsal/performance space in the basement, and inviting a rotating contingent of fifty-odd punks from all over to occupy your living room, basement and the abandoned vehicles in your backyard. Throw in years of fruitless battles with the landlord over busted plumbing and decaying walls, add a baby or two, and you’re set. This is a funny, fast-moving catalogue of the people who lived at 2024 E. 1st Avenue in Vancouver for the nine years that it was a bastion of the west coast punk scene and, as such, essential reading for the contemporary punkologist.
