I’m Going to the Store Now

This begins with a radio transcript from Congo, inciting hatred against ethnic Tutsis, the same process that led to the mass genocide of Tutsis in Rwanda. But from that thought- provoking opening, things go downhill. The stories of being harassed by rich white gangsta-wannabes is somewhat interesting and the found article on the limousine built in 1928 for the King of Siam is fascinating, but the fiction is largely sophomoric and the Guided By Voices concert review takes half the article to get to the band. In other words, writing about yourself is not always the best way to go. (KR)
