The guide to the Zeitgeist. If you don’t know what that is, it’s worth looking up in the dictionary, id comes out twice and month and covers, pretty thoroughly, things of interest in this area of the country. For instance, looking over a couple of issues, there were articles on the First Nations occupation of the Revenue Canada building, New Age entrepreneurs, violence in the anti-abortion camp, the parallels between Ronnie Hawkins and Elvis Presely on the occasion of their 60th birthdays, plus a mid-decade report. As well as interviews with Veda Hille and Russell Smith, there were reviews of theatre (eg. Oleanna), music (eg. Waterboys), film (eg. Bullets over Broadway) and books (eg. Funny Boy). Lots of local information pertaining not just to Guelph but to the surrounding communities filled it out nicely. Alternative, but not radical.
