Holiday In The Sun

Well known zinester and agitator Munroe continues his exploration of the relationship between corporations and creativity. In this issue, further updates about his on_going book deal with HarperCollins including “New York interest” and problems with the cover and galley. “I was focussed on trying to make each detail of the process interesting and creative, and it was draining to try and fight against the way things are usually done,” writes Munroe. His tell_all attitude is intriguing, particularly when coupled with interviews with Beerframe’s Paul Lukas, and Plotz’s Barbara Plotz. In the Plotz piece, Barbara talks about doing an interview with a reporter from the Washington Post. The Lukas thing is more extensive, it’s an actual interview that roams over Paul’s career from CNN to New York Magazine. An improvement over the first issue, Munroe addresses some important, difficult issues. But I’d still like to see some longer pieces that really get into the issues of corporate versus indie in ways that are less superficial. (HN)
