Gunslingers

According to the back cover of this comic, the last one they put out was “a great story” , “perfect”, “subtle yet plenty of action”. I’m telling you all this to offset the harshness to follow. Although the illustration was good enough, this sucked. Really, past lame and well into sucked. Here’s the plot: boyfriend (who’s a cop) tells his girlfriend she should have a gun, “just in case”. She says no. He gets her one anyway: “I thought it suited you. Small and beautiful”. Pleeease. Next thing you know she’s posing like a gangster with her new gun (Charlie’s Angels here we come). So it seems like the very modern message of this zine is that your boyfriend knows best, guns are your friends and boyfriends with guns are tops. Even a hint of sarcasm and humour would have redeemed this moribund offering. (HC)
