Green’s is a hefty little staple-bound mag packed with mostly competent stories and poetry by journeyman writers from around the world. There’s nothing sparkling or spectacular here, yet there’s also nothing unbearable or embarrassing. Many of the stories have a strongly sentimental feeling that is sometimes cloying and sometimes quaint. I particularly enjoyed the story “Queen of the Erie Canal” by Paul Persia (Montreal), about a New York businessman remembering his rural school teacher, and the poem “There’ll Come a Day” by Virginia Thayer (Mass.), about banishing housework.
