great day for up

Ah those ever inquisitive youngsters are at it again. A double page spread entitled Questions About Archie leaves us with more than a few serious issues to consider such as: Why doesn’t Midge get a restraining order against Moose? Is Archie a gold digger? But josie and lucie don’t just ask questions. No! These women live! They are alive! They recommend fun things to do when you are alone in your house. Josie dyes her hair blonde and pays the price (of course the black and white photos do little if anything to alleviate reader curiosity). josi gives us a long look at the life of Edith Piaf “the greatest dead French chick ever.” Great Day for Up, known for its intriguing appreciation of jazz women, tells us that 40,000 people tried to go to Edith’s funeral on October 10, 1963. Okay in case you haven’t realized yet, josi and lucie are two intelligent youngsters; they read; they think; they have this spidery hand-writing that makes the zine just ooze with personality. If you need another reason to buy this, I will tell you that josi is hoping to raise money through sales of the zine and donations to go to Cleveland with her kid brother where he has to have a very strange kind of heart surgery. Okay. Get your wallet open.
