Graffito

You know, say what you want about Graffito, it’s a good idea that remains a good idea. Poetry on posters. Hell, even the Toronto Transit Commission has ripped off this idea. I mean, whether you’re at work or at the gym, there’s probably some wall space that could be made more interesting by hanging up one of these posters. Concerning the poetry itself, it’s about what you’d expect from an experiment like this (i.e. hit and miss). For me, it’s the little short-ass poems that really make the grade. A good example is James Nordlund’s “For You: Songbirds,/Weaved through this day,/Uplifted May.” Now isn’t that about as diamond-like as you can get with letters? In other words, even if you have just a passing interest in poetry, throw Mr. Harding $12 and he’ll dress up a wall real nice. (DP)
