Frond

Compulsion is different from creation. It’s not the urge to create that we’re talking about here, it’s the need. Take Frond, the focal point for one young woman’s attempt to find the future, even as she gazes through a past she can’t seem to really see. Frond starts off with reflections in the shape of poems, as Jen thinks about her hometown of Georgetown, Ontario. She paints an evocative picture of a typical small town, but the results would be generic were it not for her intrinsic understanding of the way we’ll always be trapped in our origins, no matter where we go. Take Jen’s tour of the ravine, but don’t expect that you’ll ever be able to lose yourself in the wonders of nature. (HN)
