Feathered Friends

In the introduction to this lovely collection of comics, Sasha writes that in Yugoslavia it is very hard to find comics other than Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck strips from the sixties in the regime’s dailies. It was a fact I didn’t know, which made his own comics stand out that much further in my mind. Presented here are various comics by Sasha, in different styles which he all does equally well, though they are not all great. However, the ones that do stand out, are up to par with some of the best comic artists on this side of the ocean. Particularly the opening, unnamed comic, which has a fantastic fairy-tale quality to it and the illustration to boot. As well, there is a beautifully scrappy short comic which captures the inanities of running into people you vaguely or only know through acquaintances. All in all this is a collection worth the three loons, and Sasha hopes “you will write to me and become my feathered friends.” Now how can you turn down a guy like that? (KJ)
