Eyeball

This is a pretty cool indie media magazine. Still in its infancy, it nevertheless provides a good read and covers a lot of ground. The emphasis here seems to be on film/video and zines. So articles on the state of amateur filmmaking, Hoopty Studios “the world’s cheapest movie studio,” and the zine Micro-Film merge with pieces on how to do your zine on the cheap and a kinda lame column entitled “zines that suck.” There are also film, comic and zine reviews. Eyeball is enthusiastic and packed with articles. Most of the interviews are q+a style, which makes them longer and wordier than they need to be. I’d love to see some tighter writing and an expanded reviews sections. But this is an up and coming magazine well worth reading. (Hal Niedzviecki)
